Imagination Festival 2021: Drum & Bass stage

In just a couple of weeks the 11th edition of Imagination Festival is gonna go down at PVA EXPO Letňany venue, promising a spectacular show for all the bass & hard music lovers. The two design stages will host 22 artists, including the biggest acts of these genres. So it’s about time to get a closer look at them to prepare for what we’re about to witness.

The tempo of the Imagination Drum & Bass stage will be set by the Australian legends Pendulum and their DJ set. Surely we all know these guys as their output includes the notorious hits like “Tarantula”, Propane Nightmares” or Watercolour”. After almost a 10-year break from music production interrupted only by “The Reworks” remix album in 2018, they’ve returned in full force last year with the Driver / Nothing For Free” single and we’re in for a treat as we’ll get to hear not just their biggest hits but their forthcoming stuff as well.

Another big name on the list is the local sweetheart and current holder of the “Best DJ” award in the Drum & Bass Arena Awards, A.M.C. He’s fresh off the release of his second album “VOID” which includes an array of dancefloor smashers like “Operator” and “Bass”.

Maduk, the Dutch superstar and the face of Liquicity, has just put his second album out, too. “Transformations” was a couple of years in the making and it was being released over a period of time, one single after another. Now that it’s finally complete, which track is your favourite? We’re team “Colours” and “Everytime”!

A bass heavy experience awaits those looking forward to the performance of the British producer Emperor. He’s on a roll with the releases lately and after years of representing Critical Music, he’s now exploring other ventures. Last year he started with a phenomenal “Sunder” EP at Noisia’s Vision imprint and a dark atmospheric roller “Still”. This came out on UKF and to this day amassed over 1 150 000 plays on Spotify. Considering the DJ support of the biggest names in the genre this doesn’t come across as a surprise. Currently he’s remixed the huge Annix, K Motionz and Simula’s “Diagram” collab.

If there’s one thing we’re absolutely certain about, it’s that Eatbrain League won’t spare anyone. The fearsome brain eaters will be led to war by their general Jade, joined by the Ukrainian brothers Agressor Bunx, the bear trio Teddy Killerz and the ever so popular MC Coppa. Agressor Bunx flourish at the moment with a strong string of singles such as Bunker” or Eternal Frost”. Teddy Killerz are fresh off a collab with the iconic EDM act The Bloody Beetroots called Elevate” which came out on Monstercat.

The British duo representing Shogun Audio, Pola & Bryson, will be playing on a softer note. A few weeks ago these two released their third album Beneath the Surface” which is full of lovely moody vocal tunes like “Under” or “Neverend”. But Jack and Harry can go in hard, too – case in point the dark gritty number “Anaesthetist” or their Circles” bootleg which got literally canned to death at festivals across the globe over the last couple of years.

The local scene will be represented by Forbidden Society who’s been very prolific lately. After years of producing mainly heavy and hard Drum & Bass he’s recently made a switch towards the deep and dark stuff. Pay a listen to a wicked roller “Dont Push Me”, a gritty Static” or his Disremember” collab with Emperor to get a picture.

Another project with a freshly released album is the Czech & Slovakian duo Ripple. “Effect” includes a couple of solid summer dancefloor bangers like Summer Lights” or Paradise”. Counting in the collabs with the likes of Neonlight and Sovryn, we’re definitely gonna dance our shoes off.

The Slovakian mark on the Drum & Bass stage will be made by the Simple Souls project. A unique blend of Soul, Funk, Hip-Hop, Jazz and Drum & Bass brought them to the spotlight of many important figuers abroad and they are currently releasing most of their music through the legendary Liquid V label. Try their recent tracks “Sweet Love”, “Dynasty” or “Going Back” to brighten up your day and know they’re also the only local Drum & Bass live act at the moment.

We’re in for a night full of amazing Drum & Bass in its various forms which will please all the fans of the broken beats. The tickets for Imagination Festival 2021 that takes place on 19th November at PVA Expo Letňany are available in pre-sale at GoOut network for 47 €.
