Imagination Festival 2022: Drum & Bass stage

On 25 November, the 12th edition of the Imagination Festival will take place at PVA EXPO Prague. On two stages, fans can traditionally look forward to a spectacular show for all lovers of bass & hard music and 14 international headliners. Let’s see who will delight us with their performance on the Imagination Drum & Bass Stage!

Headlining this year’s edition is the legendary Austrian duo Camo & Krooked. This duo has already released five studio albums and countless singles, most recently in collaboration with their Austrian colleague Mefjus. It’s a real honour to welcome Reini and Markus to Imagination for the first time at perhaps their most prolific period in their career so far – as evidenced by this year’s singles “Overture” or “Break Away” (with Mefjus), “Nova” (with Noisia), “No Way Out”, their remix of High Contrast’s “Return Of Forever” or the Prodigy remix of “Breathe”, freshly released a few days ago. The Camo & Krooked show is always a powerful musical experience and we can’t wait to see what bangers the gentlemen pull out on us!

Another big premiere at the Imagination Stage and a big return to the Czech Republic will be the performance of British artist SPOR. The Drum & Bass legend will visit the Czech Republic after seven long years and the expectations are huge. His tracks “1up” or “Aztec” were the bread and butter of every drum & bass party in the first decade of the new millennium, he has made an indelible mark on history with the way he has helped shape the genre over almost the last two decades and his releases on Lifted Music, Renegade Hardware, Subtitles Recordings or his latest EP “Cave” released on Deadmau5’s label mau5trap are definitive proof of the quality of this artist. Expect nothing but a technically polished set full of his own work, old, new, and unreleased tracks.

The tradition of showcase performances at the Imagination Stage will continue this year. For this year we have prepared a Blackout Showcase with a very unusual line-up of Neonlight & Prolix & Redpill. These three neuro-funk riders won’t take any guff and their hour and a half long performance will present drum & bass in its most raw form. Tracks from this year’s Neonlight album “Vanity Fair” and plenty of releases and remixes from Prolix and Redpill will definitely be heard. Are you ready for a proper Blackout?

Deep legend Enei will get us into the swing of things before midnight. One of the leading faces of Critical Music, whose career, even after fifteen years of releasing music and performing at events around the world, shows no signs of stagnating. The name Enei is synonymous with Deep Drum & Bass, musical innovation and an inimitable sound. With six EPs to his credit this year alone, such as the recently released “The Hammer” and “The Greatest Trick”, his debut performance at Imagination Festival is sure to be packed with not only fresh music, but as is his wont, plenty of dubplates. Calling the fire brigade!

After an absolutely incredible performance at this year’s Let It Roll festival, the question was not if, but when Mandidextrous would return to the Czech Republic again. An honest 4×4 speedbass blast at a killer tempo will be what will squeeze the last vestiges of energy out of all ravers before the very end of the evening. As pioneers of fresh new genres such as Jungletek, Raggatek and Speedbass, Mandidextrous have become true influencers in their own time with a huge fan base, crossing boundaries in both music and gender.

On a much softer note, Belgian producer Andromedik will play for us as one of the opening acts this year. This representative of the Liquicity stable has been releasing music since a young age, but it wasn’t until his breakthrough album “Essence”, released last year, that put him 100% on the musical map of the mainstream Drum & Bass world. His injection of energy and euphoria is exactly what we want to hear at the start of the night and we can’t wait to sing along to his hits “First To Go”, “Let Me In” and “Elevate”!

The final international act at this year’s Imagination is Russian duo Synergy. The dynamic and heavy sound of this duo comes from the fusion of the producers formerly known as SEGMENT & CONCEPT VISION. The perfect balance between melody and high energy that characterizes their sound may be the true future of Drum & Bass. Recently they have been slightly leaving the waters of neurofunk and dedicating themselves to more melodic positions, as can be heard for example in their recently released EP “Where You Belong / Aurora”, in any case this will be a unique performance full of unexpected twists and turns that fits perfectly into the concept of the first half of the night.

Czech republic will be represented this year by the duo A-Cray & Zigi SC. Two of the most prominent figures of the domestic drum & bass scene in recent years will have the honour of closing this year’s Imagination. Both Ondřejs are among the top DJs and producers in the Czech Republic and the neurofunk madness that the gentlemen will unleash together will be a hell of a climax to the evening. A-Cray has releases on Hoofbeats Music, Eatbrain, C4C, or his own label Cray Tunez, Zigi SC boasts releases on Close 2 Death Recordings, Hanzom Music, UTM-Records or Empire Recordings.

The DJ duo Akira & Bifidus Aktif will guide you through the very beginning of the evening. An inseparable pair of friends originally from Karlovy Vary, but at the same time DJs known to every DNB fan in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. This well-knit tandem will open the Imagination stage this year with their set and we are quite sure that we have left this task in the best hands 🙏

A night full of great Drum & Bass in its various forms awaits us and all fans of broken beats will be in for a treat.
